SAI has never been validated in the context of exercise
Changes in report of perceived activation considered inherently linked to changes in anxiety
No provision for situations where the physiological equilibrium might be disturbed by other factors, not necessarily associated with anxiety (e.g., exercise)
SAI cannot account for positively valenced activation or negatively valenced deactivation (i.e., confounds the basic affective dimensions of activation and valence)
