Welcome to the Social Epidemiology Research Group in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health. The goal of our research is to effectively address the impact of disease risk in ethnic minority and vulnerable populations. We aim to accomplish this goal by examining individual-level risk factors associated with disease onset within the context of social and environmental influences.

Grigsby-Toussaint—New Connections Young Investigator Award

Grigsby-Toussaint received a young investigator award from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Connections and Healthy Eating Research programs. Healthy Eating Research is a national program supporting research that focuses on promoting healthy eating among children. See more about Grigsby's award at New Connections.

Diabetes Care Features Grigsby-Toussaint Article

Grigsby-Toussaint's article "Neighborhood Socioeconomic Change and Diabetes Risk" is featured in May 2010 issue of Diabetes Care. The study examines whether socioeconomic characteristics affect diabetes rates in Chicago youths. Diabetes Care is a publication of the American Diabetes Association and is ranked 4th out of 92 journal publications in endocrinology/metabolism. Read the full article online or get the PDF.
