Graduate Programs
The Department of Kinesiology and Community Health offers graduate study and research leading to a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in four major areas with further specialization within each area:
Specialization
- Biobehavioral Kinesiology studies the impact of sport and physical activity on individuals.
- Community Health and Rehabilitation examines issues such as cancer epidemiology, cultural aspects of disability and rehabilitation, health education, health policy and health behavior.
- Cultural, Pedagogical, and Interpretive Kinesiology examine the interaction between physical activity and the individual from cultural, sociological and pedagogical perspectives.
- Exercise Physiology studies work output, energy transfer, and movement efficiency. Research in this area strives to better understand the consequences of exercise stress on body systems.
The Department also offers a Master of Public Health degree. The MPH program provides education and training in the core competencies of public health and offers a concentration in Health Behavior and Promotion.
